Grouville Parish
Grouville, which borders St Clement to the north, has something of everything.
There is low-cost housing in the areas close to St Helier and St Clement as well as one of the most expensive new residential developments in the island, Chateau Royal, close to the Royal Jersey golf club. It was two villages, one slightly inland from the golf course, with some of the best food shops in the island, and the other snuggled around the harbour at the foot of the dramatic mediaeval Mont Orgueil castle.
The harbour is a good mooring for yachts and fishing boats and is the nearest safe anchorage to the French coast. In the summer there is usually a ferry from here to the ports along the Cherbourg peninsula, which are about 30 minutes away. The Royal Bay of Grouville is a long sandy beach where there are numerous water sports facilities. There is still good agricultural land and the wooded valleys that lead up from the coast conceal a number of typical granite-built farm houses.
