Schoneberg
Schneberg is just south of West Berlin city centre and its stylish pubs, cafes and restaurants make it a popular destination for an evening out.
The area around Motzstrae/Fuggerstrae has become the centre of Berlins gay and lesbian scene and is famous for its bars and clubs. Schneberg South is typically quieter and more sedate than the bustling north.
The Wednesday and Saturday morning Winterfeldtmarket is probably the most popular market in Berlin. On the Tauentzienstrae, at the eastern end of Kurfrstendamm boulevard, stands the Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe), Europes largest department store.
It is particularly well known is its food department on the sixth floor, which offers specialities from all around the world and from where you can sip an aperitif while taking in the view.
The U1, U2, U6 and U7 underground lines and the S41/42 overground ring train cross Schneberg west to east, while the U4, S1 and S2 provide north-south connections.
