According to Dutch News Amsterdamcity council has drawn up a raft of new measures designed to help counteract the surge of alcohol abuse in young people in the city. As part of the measures, the city council is to make a case to national government to raise the age at which young people can buy alcohol in supermarkets from 16 to 18. According to the report, around 20 per cent of those in Amsterdam who consume alcohol drink more than recommended limits.
