The Netherlands ministry of transport has agree to fund a project to put a southern section of the Amsterdam ring road underground. It has also given the go-ahead to widen the stretch that dissects the Zuida business park, and to enlarge and modernise the Amsterdam Zuid station.

Amsterdam Zuid station is the second busiest in the city with connections to Schipol airport (about eight minutes), and high-speed domestic and international services.
