As of 1 Jan 2007 people representing a total of 177 different nationalities are residing in the Dutch capital according to Amsterdam city council, making it once again the most multi-cultural city in the world. Antwerp comes in second with 164 nationalities, while New York has 150. Of a total of 743,104 inhabitants, Amsterdam has 532,548 Dutch nationals, 64,588 Moroccans, 37,421 Turks, 10,244 Britons, 6,670 Germans and 5,609 Surinam nationals. In 2006, a Malawi national moved to the Dutch capital, bringing the total number of nationalities to 177.
