Appeal for unwanted presents in Dublin

Dublin's Pro-Cathedral is accepting unwanted Christmas gifts which will be redistributed to disadvantaged families over the coming months.

People can deposit the unwanted gifts at the Christmas crib in St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral on Marlborough St until 6 January.

The presents will be collected by Crosscare, the social care agency of Dublin's Catholic Archdiocese which has been delivering services to people in need in the greater Dublin area since 1941.

The Blanchardstown-based agency will then distribute the items as gifts to people as part of their homeless and residential projects for 2013.

The appeal receives a greater response from the public each year since it was launched in 2006. Many of the gifts given last year were distributed to elderly people living alone in Dublin's north inner city.
