Barcelona has won the award for the best airport in southern Europe for the second year running. The Skytrax World Airport Award is based on surveys from 11 million passengers worldwide, covering opinions on 39 subjects such as access, cleanliness, comfort, traffic, safety and signage. Madrid was third on the south European regional list.

The only European airport in the top ten airports worldwide was Amsterdam’s Schipol. The top-rated airport in the world in 2011 was Seoul’s Incheon international airport.
