Brussels is the traffic jam hotspot of Europe. A study by satellite navigator company TomTom analysed driver mobility in 59 European cities and found Brussels to be the most congested.

Drivers encounter delays on around 40 per cent of the Brussels road network every day. Daily records were gathered from the GPS units of more than 30 million TomTom users to create rankings based on average speeds recorded.

Traffic conditions were considered congested when drivers were driving at 70 per cent or less of the speed limit. London, Paris and Rome were ranked fourth, ninth and 14th respectively.
