An anonymous donor has provided the funding to build a fresh food market complex at Israels Plads near Nrrebro station in Copenhagen. The city council has given the go-ahead for construction to begin on the 7,000 sqm site and the new structure of glass, steel and wood should be ready by autumn 2007. The market will offer a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and organic products as well as wine and coffee. 120 prospective stallholders have already applied to rent space in the new facility, which is backed by the Copenhagen Marketplace Guild.
