There was a seven per cent drop in overall crime in 2009 in the northern Brussels zone, according to recent figures released by police authorities.

However incidences of neighbourhood disputes, domestic violence and armed robbery rose, while muggings fell.

A police survey of residents revealed an 82 per cent satisfaction rate with police policy and 150 officers have been trained to give emergency first aid using cardiac defibrillators.
