Dublin launches interactive website

First website of its kind in Ireland

Dublin has launched a new interactive website comprising real-time and collated data relating to the capital city.

The Dublin Dashboard website incorporates a wide range of information charts and interactive maps, offering detailed access to the workings of the capital. The data is updated regularly and comes from a variety of sources including Dublin city council sensors around the city, the Central Statistics Office, Eurostat, and Irish government departments.

Topics include transport, housing, planning, health services, even levels of crime in certain areas.

In addition to being able to check traffic in real-time, users can also find the nearest church, recycling centre or sports facility in their area. Managed in partnership with Dublin city council, the website is the work of Maynooth University researchers who plan to extend the project's scope to branch into social media and apps.

There are similar "dashboard" type websites in other cities around the world but this is the first of its kind in Ireland.
