The Madrid city council is to spend 3 million on renovating a building in the Retiro district which is to house the first municipal school of music and dance. Work on the structure in the former military complex of Daoz y Velarde on Calle Tllez is to start in July. The ground floor will house the School of Music for up to 400 students, while the upper floor will house the School of Dance for 200. An assembly hall, changing rooms and toilets will be built on the new lower-ground floor. Work should be completed by the end of 2007.
