French railways to offer low fares

SNCF extends low-cost services

French railways, SNCF, is rolling out cheap fares at €10 a journey to another eight cities on its OuiGo services and adding 46 destinations at €5 to its low-cost bus service (Ouibus).

The marketing scheme is to attract more people to take trains for long journeys and to appeal to young passengers.

The stations added to the OuiGo train service are mainly in the north and west – Angers, TGV Haute Picardie, Le Mans, Massy TGV, Nantes, Rennes, Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Tourcoing.

The OuiGo trains already run south to Lyon, Marseilles and Montepellier. The Ouibus services will link destinations without good rail connections.
