Soaring temperatures in Britain this summer have prompted Oxford city council to offer grants for the installation of insulation in the homes of Oxford residents over 60 years of age. The grants are available both to home owners and rent-paying private tenants. Cavity wall and loft insulation can help keeping houses cooler in summer and easier to heat in winter. Some residents under 60 may also qualify for other grants and discounts for home insulation. The environmental health department at the council can be contacted for more information on 01865 252197 or email lthompson@oxford.gov.uk
