There has been a security upgrade at the Westgate multi-storey car park and at the underground car park at Gloucester Green bus station in Oxford city centre. New equipment, which scans the area and captures clear images, has replaced CCTV cameras in an attempt to combat and catch vandals and thieves more effectively. Upgraded equipment is also planned for the Peartree and Redbridge park-and-ride car parks over the coming months. Oxford city council, which is funding the project, reported these changes just after announcing the 20 per cent increase in parking charges around the city last month.
