Stallholders at the Gracia districts Mercat de la Llibertat are to move to a new temporary market on the Plaa de Galla Placdia in November and December while the historic market is restored. Renovations to the modernist Mercat building dating from 1888 include an improved air-conditioning system and the creation of an underground level for deliveries and rubbish collection. The new market will house a reduced number of stalls, with 45 businesses offering a variety of products plus a gourmet food and wine shop and a restaurant.
