The price of a hotel room in Denmark has fallen seven per cent in the first two quarters of 2010 over the same period in 2009, according to a survey by bookings portal hotels.com hotel price index (HPI).

The decrease is second only to that in Russia where the price of hotels rooms fell 10 per cent.

These declines come against a stablisation in prices worldwide after seven consecutive quarters of falls according to the booking portal, which surveys 120,000 of its hotels globally.

In the first quarter of 2010 there was an average global increase of two per cent according to the HPI, which was based on bookings actually made through the portal rather than advertised prices.
