House prices in Barcelona increased by 15.2 per cent in 2005, according to a survey conducted by idealista.com. The average price for property in the Catalan capital is now 4,498 euros per square metre, compared to 4,062 euros in Madrid. However, the same source revealed that last years rise was less than in 2004, which saw house prices increase by 18.3 per cent. In Madrid prices increased by 7.3 per cent in 2005, against 26.2 per cent in 2001 and 28.7 per cent in 2002.
