Swedish furniture chain IKEA has received planning permission to build a superstore at Ballymun on the northern outskirts of Dublin. The outlet will be the first IKEA in Ireland. However, Fingal County council has attached 32 conditions to the permission, mostly regarding transport and traffic management plans, to address concerns that the volume of shoppers at the new store will further compromise the already overloaded M50 motorway around Dublin. The new store will employ 500 people, with another 100 jobs created in outsourced services. It is scheduled to open next year.
