After renovations lasting several years the new-look Karlsplatz square has been ceremoniously rededicated by city officials. Improvements to the busy traffic and transport hub in central Vienna include new bike paths and footpaths and re-designed subway entrances. The Ressel Park in the Karlsplatz now has extended lawns and flowerbeds, while directions to nearby arts and music venues such as the Historisches Museum, the Knstlerhaus and the Musikverein have been engraved into the sidewalk to help tourists. Two of the squares most beautiful buildings, the Karlskirche and the Art Nouveau Jugendstil pavilion, designed by Otto Wagner, have also been restored.
