The Amsterdam city council has started laying a fibre-optic network which will provide broadband access for the districts of Oosterparkbuurt-Zuid and Dapperbuurt. Funds for the public/private project have come from the councils partnership with financial services group ING and Netherlands-based DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) services provider Bbned. Cables will be laid in the Oosterparkbuurt-Zuid district from Oct 2006-Jan 2007 and in the Dapperbuurt neighbourhood from Jan-Oct 2007.
