Books in more than 20 languauges can now be borrowed from Dublins libraries, including popular Irish works in translation. In response to the needs of the changing immigrant worker population, Dublin City Libraries is renting books from English company Bright Books, with 3,000 titles available. At a cost to libraries of around 70 cents per book per week, the scheme allows libraries to adapt their collections to suit the demands of the time. The Central Library in Dublin's Ilac Centre holds the largest number of foreign language titles, serving the large immigrant population living in the city centre. Polish and Chinese are currently the most requested languages.
