Lufthansa cabin crew strike again

A Lufthansa cabin crew strike is to affect flights through Berlin on Tuesday 4 September. Many medium and short-haul flights will be cancelled. The strike, which started in Berlin at 05.00 will last for eight hours.

Cabin crews are striking over pay and labour practices, asking for a five per cent rise over a period of 15 months back-dated to January, instead of the three per cent offered by the company. The union is also asking for a stop to employment of temporary staff.

The strike of about 18,000 cabin staff on 4 September follows one at Frankfurt on Friday 31 August.

Information about the strikes (precise times and airports) is being announced at the last moment, making planning more difficult. On 4 September flights out of Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich will be affected.
