The mayor of the Madeiran capital, Funchal, is to visit Jersey in 26-27 November as plans for a twinning with St Helier gather pace.

The idea of twinning the capitals of the islands has the support of constable (mayor) of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, who sees it as a natural extension of the Friendship Agreement signed between Jersey and Madeira several years ago.
