Madrid authorities will no longer be collecting waste on Sundays and holidays, as a result of budget cuts. The new practices will come into force on 1 August, however the resulting 15 per cent cost savings to residents will not come into force until 2011. The cut comes in a package of cost-cutting measures announced by regional government.
