City authorities in Madrid have assigned the fewest number of inspectors in Spain to police the new smoking ban, which came into force on 2 January prohibiting smoking in all enclosed public spaces including bars and restaurants and some outdoor areas. Madrid has just 17 inspectors to monitor the city
