Nearly 800 people have moved their cell phone company since mobile number portability (MNP) came into effect in Jersey on 1 Dec 2008. Jersey Telecom, the leader in the market, has lost 700 of its customers, of which 450 have gone to Sure, which is owned by Cable and Wireless, and 320 to Airtel Vodafone. In return Jersey Telecom picked up only 67 customers.

There are some 100,000 mobile phones in the Jersey market and Jersey Telecom says that the loss of 700 mobile phone clients represents less than 1 per cent of its total.
