The Paris Cit de la Musique in La Villette is finally to get a new symphonic concert hall with a seating capacity of 2,200-2,500. The cost of the new auditorium is expected to reach 170 million, which will be shared by the French government, the Ville de Paris and the Ile-de-France regional government. The auditorium should be completed by 2012. The project was presented by the mayor of Paris and the French minister of culture at a joint press conference on the occasion of the re-opening of the Salle Pleyel concert hall. After three years of renovation, the Salle Pleyel at 252 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honor will once again become home to the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra and its South Korean conductor Myung-Whun Chung.
