The number of people living rough on the streets of Vienna is rising dramatically, reports the Austrian Times. Head of homeless charity Caritas Vienna, Michael Landau, said that he expected record numbers of homeless people seeking help from the charity this winter.

In 2009 there was a 16 per cent year on year rise in the number of homeless people, and an extra 2,400 homeless people had already registered between January and September of 2010, reports the Times. The capital currently charges homeless people
