Oxford gets biomedical funding

Oxford University has been granted £750,000 in funding by the government for biomedical research.

The money is to be spent on research into flu vaccines and techniques to monitor the interaction between drugs and important proteins in the membrane of cells.

Oxford is one of 14 universities in the United Kingdom to receive a total of £7.4 million from the Medical Research Council’s Confidence in Concept scheme. The scheme awards money for feasibility studies to establish the viability of a research project and to speed the process from scientific discovery to the early stages of diagnostic development.
