European residents in the French capital have the right to vote in next year's council elections provided they have their name down on the electoral roll by 31 December 2007. To enroll, residents need to present valid proof of identity and nationality (eg passport), two separate documents proving residence (eg electricity/telephone bill) and a written declaration stating that the right to vote has not been forfeited in the applicant's home country. Local council offices are open in each arrondissement from Mon-Fri 08.30-17.00 (Thurs till 19.30) and on Saturdays during December from 09.00-13.00 & 14.00-16.00.

The municipal elections in Paris will be held from 9-12 March 2008. For more details see the council website www.elections.paris.fr
