Twelve specially designated areas of Paris will be decorated with artistically designed Christmas lights until mid-January in a project to highlight the diversity of the French capital, now in its second year. Different lighting designers have been chosen to decorate different areas and a special route has been mapped out leading from one illuminated district to another. In Rue du Poteau - Porte Montmartre (18me) the theme is the Milky Way; in Avenue de Saint Ouen (17me and 18me) there is a river of light; Rue Victor Hugo (16me) plays with the themes of stars, snow and frost; Rue de Passy (16me) and Boulevard Saint Germain (5me, 6me and 7me) are also participating along with other areas of Paris together with local shop owners who are trying to give the Christmas shopping experience an artistic touch.
