Seventy-three voluntary redundancy applications have been approved in the first round of the States voluntary redundancy scheme for civil servants.

The staff, including 30 senior managers, will leave their posts in the next six months as part of the biggest transformation of the public sector workforce in generations.

A total of 282 people applied for voluntary redundancy during the summer, with 122 applications being supported by departments and passed to a panel of senior managers. Of these 73 have been approved, at the total cost of
