London mayor Ken Livingstone has announced proposals for a major redevelopment project in Waterloo. Plans include improving access to and expanding the national rail station and creating a town square. The South Bank from St Thomass Hospital to Gabriels Wharf is also to be given a major revamp, bringing new homes and jobs to a part of London which has long suffered from inadequate planning. Consultation on the draft Waterloo Development Framework project will close at the end of April.
