Celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the birth of Rembrandt van Rijn have already exceeded predicted attendance figures. 1.5 million visitors were expected to attend the exhibitions of the Dutch master's paintings held across Amsterdam during the whole of 2006. However, ticket sales have already reached that number and the Rembrandt 400 anniversary organization predicts at least a further 250,000 sales by the end of the year. Up-coming events and exhibitions include the complete oeuvre of Rembrandt's etchings of Biblical scenes 'Rembrandt and the Bible' at the Biblical Museum (until 10 Dec), 'Rembrandt's Landscapes' at the Museum de Lakenhal (6 Oct-7 Jan 2007) and a performance by the Nederlands Dans Theatre 'Silent Screen' inspired by Rembrandt and Vermeer's work (5, 7 & 8 Dec) at the Opera House.
