Berlins underground network is playing host to a series of international short films until 7 February as part of the Going Underground film festival, now in its fifth year. The short films, shown on screens installed in tube carriages, last about 90 seconds each and are all silent films suitable for all ages. Passengers also have access to world news, sports, culture and weather, as well as entertainment specials. Passengers are being asked to vote for the best film on the www.berliner-fenster.de website or by SMS or phone; the director of the winning film receives 3,000. The U-Bahn is open from 05.00 to 00.30 and tickets cost 2.20-2.60.
