Berlin is one of the best cities in the world for students thanks to its low cost of living and the quality of its culture. Paris, London, Boston, Melbourne, Vienna, Sydney and Zurich were placed before Berlin.

Berlin, along with Dublin, has been ranked eighth out of 98 in the QS top universities listed by the UK firm Quacquarelli Symonds.

Reasonable fees, the low cost of living, excellent cultural and entertainment possibilities, plus the fact that several universities offer courses in English make it an option for a large number of students who might otherwise find Germany a difficult place to study.

However a degree from a Berlin university is not ranked very highly by international employers. The city came higher than Dublin on affordability and quality of living but lower on student mix and employer activity.
