The price of burial plots in Dublins four main cemeteries has almost doubled since last year. Pre-booked plots now cost 3,000 it was 1,800 in 2005 as cemetery space is running out and demand for graves is increasing. Costs are the same across the capitals Glasnevin, Newlands Cross, Dardiston and Palmeston cemeteries, although Glasnevins plots cater for only two burials, as opposed to a minimum of four at the other graveyards. When a grave is required at short notice in the case of sudden death, a standard price of 1,800 applies, but even this is 200 up on last years prices. Dublins burial plots, like its real estate, are the most expensive in Ireland.
