The number of unemployed has risen again sharply in Vienna, despite figures for Austria as a whole remaining steady. Figures released for August from the Federal Labour Market Service (AMS) show a 6.9 per cent year on year increase to August and the third consecutive monthly rise in unemployment since June, reports the Austrian Times. Those over 45 have suffered the sharpest losses in Vienna, says the Times, with numbers out of work rising by 9.1 per cent. Austria has one of the lowest unemployment rates among EU member countries.
