French-born opera manager Dominique Meyer, currently in charge of the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, has been named as the next director of the Staatsoper Wien by Austrian arts minister Claudia Schmied. The prestigious post involves overseeing three opera houses and two concert halls as well as other associated venues.
