30 Sept-29 Oct. The Abbey Theatre presents a new play by leading Irish playwright Marina Carr who offers her take on the life and death of the Russian short story writer and playwright Anton Chekhov.
Carr's poetic vision employs visuals, music and dialogues to tell Chekov's story, and her glimpses include "oceans of champagne, coffins, snow, beautiful gardens, a black monk travelling through time, trees, vodka, women, women, women and a life in which eternity is the only thing worth talking about."
Part of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival, this energetic production is directed by Wayne Jordan and its impressive cast includes Deirdre Mullins, Cathy Belton, Mark Lambert and Patrick O'Kane.
