77 years of Romanian Comics

25 October - 20 May. The work of underground Romanian comic strip artists who worked behind the Iron Curtain is only now being evaluated collectively.

It is only since the relatively recent fall of communism in Europe that the wealth of Romanian comic book art work has started to come to light, largely due to the efforts of the Romanian Association of Comic Strip Enthusiasts which has been busy assembling the previously unseen material.

The quality of the original illustrations is not only a testament to the artists but also an artistic victory over the once-prevailing establishment.

The association's collection is the subject matter of an exhibition at the Belgian Comic Strip Centre, and is presented with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Brussels.
