The centenary of the outbreak of world war one in Oxfordshire is remembered in some cultural events in Oxford and the surrounding region.

Chief among them is the exhibition A Great Estate at War – Land, Sea and Air at Blenheim Palace, many of whose owners' family members and estate workers lost their lives in the Great War. The palace is about a 20-minute drive north-west ofOxford, and the exhibition takes place from 15 Feb-21 April.

Another major event is the re-opening of the Soldiers of Oxfordshire (SOFO) museum at a new venue in nearby Woodstock in the spring. Previously located at an Oxford barracks for 70 years, Oxfordshire’s military museum offers insights from the testimonies of Oxfordshire soldiers and airmen.
