A Shot of Rhythm and Colour: English Textile Design of the late 19th Century

The MAK presents a comprehensive overview of English fabrics from its Textiles and Carpets collection.

The textiles on display were purchased by the museum authorities in England in the 19th century and exhibited at the time, inspiring generations of Viennese artists and tradespeople.

The English-designed textiles are characterised by their innovative and generously-dimensioned repeat patterns and floral motifs.

The exhibition comprises work by some of the best-known English designers of the 19th century, such as William Morris, Charles F. A. Voysey and Walter Crane.
