Ai Weiwei

Ai Weiwei's monumental installation is centred around the bicycle and is his third show at the Lisson Gallery in recent years.

The geometrically-stacked bicycles are part of the Chinese artist's ongoing series Forever, recalling the brand of bicycle mass-produced in Shanghai, and reflecting the influence of Marcel Duchamp.

The exhibition also features hand-carved sculptures in steel and crystal of domestic objects with sentimental value to Weiwei, such as a marble recreation of his father’s armchair, while other works recount his period of detention in 2011.
