From 1 Sept 2005. Asuncin Balaguer and Amparo Soler Leal share the stage in this work by Carles Alberola, which opens a new season at the Teatro Bellas Artes, now under the direction of Jess Cimarro. 'Al menos no es Navidad' was written by Carles Alberola, one of the bright new lights of Spanish theatre, who has also taken a hand in the stage design of this production. Written with a grant from Catalonias Teatro Nacional, the play is about those who flee from the world and whose lives are a fiction and those who fight for every real and fleeting moment of happiness. Alberola tells the story of Sofa and Encarna, two old women abandoned in a home: "They are two sides of the same coin, distinct yet complementary, with opposite ways of understanding life: one who lives in a fantasy world and the other who relishes the day to day, or to be precise, every single second".
