7 April - 6 June 2009. All My Sons, by the great American playwright Arthur Miller, is based on a true story he read in a newspaper, describing how a woman informed on her father who had sold faulty parts to the U.S. military during the Second World War. The concept of two families uncovering a shocking secret in the aftermath of a war is central to the plot in this heartbreaking story of love, shame and greed. The underlying criticism of the American Dream contained in this 1947 play landed Miller in hot water during America's communist witch-hunt in the 1950's. Miller was the ricipient of the Pulitzer Prize and is recognised as having had a huge impact on modern American theatre. Robin Lef
