Alvar Aalto: Organic architecture, art and design
Major retrospective dedicated to the life and work of important Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (1898-1976).
Aalto was one of the greatest 20th-century advocates of organic architecture, a philosophy which promotes harmony between buildings and the natural world, espoused most famously by American architectural giant Frank Lloyd Wright.
The exhibition comprises models and designs of 12 of Aalto's most significant buildings, as well over 100 interior furnishings and decorative objects, and explores the inspiration behind his career which spanned from the 1920s until the 1970s.
