Anselm Kiefer: The Woodcuts

18 March-19 June. The Albertina presents the first comprehensive retrospective dedicated to the woodcuts of leading German contemporary artist Anselm Kiefer.

The exhibition comprises some 35 monumental pieces from his best-known woodcuts accompanied by several series of works such as Ways of Worldly Wisdom: The Battle of Hermann, The Rhine and Brünhilde – Grane.

One of Germany's first post-war artists to confront the Nazi legacy, Kiefer is best known for his work dealing with German myth and history, particularly in relation to the Holocaust.
