Art and Wine

5 June - 2 September. Through the display of 100 items, the exhibition Art and Wine traces the impact of wine on the fine arts over the centuries. In ancient Greece and Rome wine was associated with the fun-loving Dionysus/Bacchus while the drink also has special signifance for a number of religious faiths. Elaborate wine-drinking vessels have been created by craftsmen down the ages while to this day wine litters literature, poetry and song.
